"Yeah," Diana said softly, still choked up -- both agreeing with James's description of the reason for their rather grief-stricken attention to the newspaper, and confirming Finn's suspicion that it was someone they had known. "I mean, we didn't mean anything against Minister Dark Lord, if that's what you're wondering...! We just... don't like hearing about our old friends committing suicide to escape His idea of justice!"
As soon as she'd said it, she realised that she had said too much, really -- particularly if Finn was inclined to give them up to the Dark Lord, accusing them of sedition. She smiled gamely at him through her still-watery eyes, and made an effort to backtrack: "I mean, His plans for the greatest of all Judgements!" It still sounded wrong to her ears, but she supposed that was because she had taken a page from her Catholic and Death-Eating brother's book -- talking of a Great Judgement that awaited them at the End of Days. Well, this certainly felt like the End of Days to her! And besides which, if the Longbottoms were-- dead, then they were up in Heaven, facing that ultimate Judgement -- if, indeed, there was such a place as Heaven! She definitely hate her doubts, given her current predicament...
"Thanks, Finn...!" she said at last, in response to his condolences, and reached out to hug him as well.
