Giles lunged, and Harth side-stepped the attack with little effort. As the Watcher stumbled forward, Harth whipped around and grabbed the arm wielding the stake in one hand. With very little effort, Harth forced Giles' arm down with a quick snap, shattering bone, and driving the momentum of the stake into a new direction: Giles' own thigh.
As the wooden stabbing implement tore into Giles' skin, Harth released the Watcher with a shove, watching the human topple to the ground and spurt blood from his fresh wound.
"Pathetic," the vampire sneered.
Pacing around the crumpled, but living, body of the legendary Watcher, Harth's stare bore down with the unmitigated hate of the demon within.
"I'm not going to kill you. I want to, but I imagine this is the first time in your pitiful existence that being you will save your life. Be it fate or magic, I met the great Rupert Giles here first...and because of that, I know not only when I am, but where. So, you will live to carry the message back to your precious Council, back to your Buffy, that the world ends now. I've seen what humanity does to this planet, and I'm more than happy to let it burn before that occurs. You will run, and you will tell them...because the only thing better than letting the world of humans be consumed by the fires of Hell is knowing that they know there is nothing they can do."
Leaning over, Harth grabbed a fist full of Giles' collar, taking delight in watching the man wince at the grip. With a heave, he hoisted the Watcher into the air, giving his victim the chance to look him dead in the eye.
"Everything you've fought for, everything your Council has taught you...it's a lie. You live and die by the edict that a girl, a vampire slayer, will come and save you. That's the problem with prophesy. Semantics sometimes lead us to believe a misprint, an interpretation gone wrong. There is a vampire slayer. It's not a girl. It's me. I'm the Slayer..the VAMPIRE Slayer. As in, the vampire who slays...and I have to tell you Rupert, I've come to dust everything right out of existence."
