Jo didn't fall asleep right away. She spent a long time staring up at the ceiling and didn't drift off to sleep until long after Dean had settled into the bed and his breathing had evened out.
She didn't notice the shift from awake to sleep, but the tension left her as she slipped into unconciousness. It was now a sunny day and she was stretched out on a picnic blanket. Next to her, her mother was laughing that rare laugh that only made an appearance when her father was home.
It was one of the happier memories she had and Jo was content to stay there.
She sat up and grinned at her dad as the sunlight warmed her face...
Suddenly, an invisible force tugged at her. Jo looked at her parents, surprise registering on her face as she was yanked backwards.
Chanting filled her ears and the sunny day was ripped away as she hurtled toward cloaked figures.
Every inch of her was in agony. Something was extremely wrong, and she felt that to the core.
"No!" the scream was enough to jar her out of the nightmare. She sat up quickly, her entire body shaking.
