Dean was ringing the bell on the desk maniacally, a not-so-friendly expression on his face that was approaching a grimace. When the door behind him opened, he didn't turn around, or stop pushing the damn bell. He was waiting for the kid behind the desk to appear.
It was a different kid than last time, and the kid grabbed the bell away from Dean as soon as he came out of the back room. Dean raised both eyebrows. "Sorry, I was in the bathroom," the kid said.
Dean didn't even blink. "Anybody checked outta here in the last two days?" he asked. The guy just looked at him, nonplussed. His eyes darted to the pretty blond girl, as though asking for help. Dean followed the kids eyes, and stopped on the girl. She was beautiful enough to distract him a second from asking about Ellen. His mouth opened, a stupid pick up line in there, bitten back. She looked familiar. Why?
He turned back to the kid. "I think somebody may've gone missing."
The kid moved a mouse on the desk computer and punched some keys. "Uhm. Nope. Nobody's checked out. All the guests we've had were here two days ago. Not even anybody new."
