Harry checked and made sure he had his gun in his pocket. Then he headed out the door of the room, stopping to orient himself with where the crystal was leaning. That was when it got... strange. Once the crystal had stopped swinging and was leaning northeasterly again, It suddenly spun into a wide circle, then began to lean immediately back towards the room. The shift in the direction was accompanied by what Harry thought was the loudest bird he had ever heard suddenly taking flight.
"What the..."
Harry turned. The pendulum continued to lean back towards the room. He frowned, and looked inside. There was Jo, laid out on the bed. Her eyes were shut and she seemed to be sleeping. Standing over her was a dark-haired man wearing a tan trenchcoat. Harry recognized him this time. Bobby Singer had called him 'Cas'.
Dean sighed.
Cas was grating--make that dancing--on one of the last available angel-tolerant nerves he had. Every time he disappeared without a word or just was unhelpful or extra cryptic, Dean moved just a little closer to frustrated beyond recognition. He arched an eyebrow at Harry, who looked a little confused by what'd just happened.
"Angels make shit not work," Dean said.
He was back into the room in a heartbeat, eyes darting to Cas in something like a glare, then sitting on the bed next to Jo.
"Why is she unconscious?" he half-growled. "What happened?"
Castiel shook his head. "No. The spell was working adequately." He pointed at the crystal, still dangling from it's string, which was leaning exactly at Jo. Then he looked back at Dean. "I managed to locate her in a graveyard. She was possessed by a demon. The creature has been driven out, and she fainted."
Harry shoved the crystal back in his pocket and went to the bed to check on Jo. He was no doctor, of course, but he'd been on enough battlefields. Her pulse was good, breathing strong. There was some dried blood on one ankle, with what looked like bite wounds. He frowned at that, and looked at Dean. "Something bit her. Got a first-aid kit handy?"
He didn't give the angel much attention. He tried to stay out of the way of heavenly things, and hoped the favor was returned.
