"I am here," Zenobia replied with a grin as she drew closer and without asking threw her small arms around Mael's waste. He was so tall and she was so short that she only came to the lower portion of his chest. Still, she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her cheek to his hard body as she embraced him as best as she could.
"I didn't know if you were still alive. I didn't know you were here," she whispered in a voice too low for mortals to hear. Pulling back she looked up at Mael with her glittering eyes and the smile still showing on her face. What little attention they had drawn to themselves the mortals quickly lost interest and they returned to having the corner and the splendor of seeing one another all to themselves.
Zenobia was quite skilled at three things: memorizing nearly anything, reading, and being able to look like a mortal. Her movements, the glittering eyes and nails, the fangs, and the feel of her cold hard skin easily gave away what she was. But with the help of modern day make up and clothes she managed to slip around unnoticed.
"You look well, Mael," she said at a more normal volume as she looked her friend over. Flicking at a small bit of dirt on his shirt her smile became soft. "Still sleeping in groves? Or have you taken up staying in homes? I know you always preferred the company of trees rather than the company of Avicus and I."
Her smile that was soft for only a moment turned mischievous as she took a step back and glanced around. Mael had been sitting in what looked like a rather comfortable chair and beside it was another similar to his own. She invited herself to sit down, taking her seat and looking like a glittering doll in the large chair.
