It rolled underneath the table with the projector. Without thinking much, a little too surprised to think clearly, Mel went after it. She held up a finger toward Julian and ducked, then crawled.
Pen found, she heard a slide click on the table above her head. She smiled and slid out gracefully from under the table, but caught the cord for the projector with her boot.
She took the whole thing down as she got to her feet.
Then stood there, holding her pen in her right hand, face getting progressively more red as the classroom full of kids began to applaud.
It was fixable, and would be re-set up in a few moments. But that didn't change what'd just happened.
She looked at Julian and sighed. "Graceful," she said. "Like rocks."
