"Something like that," Dawn answered, trying to remember if she'd checked out anything too incriminating. She didn't think so, but she'd really have to go get a book bag if she was going to be that clumsy. She didn't need to invite any awkward questions on why she was studying ancient Sumerian translations, old Pagan rituals and histories of demonic possession and exorcisms.
Fortunately, these books were mostly on the history of the town. "History buff," she added quickly, smiling wryly. "Especially in a new place. Knowledge is power, y'know?"
She accepted the books back from the girl, who, unlike Dawn, had exceptional balance and reflexes. It was kind of like running into Buffy - Dawn would end up on the floor while her sister would stand there with nary a hair out of place, looking somewhat skeptical and a tinge pitying. Dawn clutched the books to her chest and resolved to get a tote as soon as possible.
