Julian raised a hand to block the glare of the flashlight, hoping his eyes hadn't reflected their amber glow back. When the wolf was close to the surface, as it was now, his brown eyes sometimes had that golden reflection that hinted at his other nature.
"Yeah, well, it hasn't exactly been Christmas Town out there the last few days," he said back. "People aren't coming through the same way they came in." He nodded towards the corn. "I doubt it's much different in there."
Julian didn't know what kind of trickery this all was. But silver and magic, those where the things he couldn't recover rapidly from. Those were the ones that would linger, as any human wounds might. He could almost taste the tang of the silver this guy had in the bag, but none of it was out yet. He doubted the monsters in the corn had access to any.
"I can hold a flashlight, if nothing else. But there's people in there getting hurt. I can't walk away from that."
