He didn't want to believe that. Love was something real, something deeper than signals in the brain. His mind was trying to rebel against this, that much he could tell. The same hadn't been true with Anastasia, with Susan, with Elaine, with Karr--.
"Are you going to make me pull them apart?"
Harry wrinkled his nose. "Only if this doesn't work."
The sprinklers made it difficult to hold any spell in mind. His will poured away with the water, but the flow wasn't as heavy as it might have been. It was a crude system, only barely up to code. Harry used more will than he normally would have, for much less the result. Which was alright, since he was overcalculating by a lot.
"Infriga!"
The water went even colder. More sprinklers erupted, and warning lights began to flash. "Out!" Harry yelled, giving all the power he could to his voice. "Everybody out, emergency!"
