She gave Murphy a grateful smile but shrugged a shoulder. "I don't remember my parents. I know their names, but they died only days after I was born."
She lifted the soda for a sip. If she was uncomfortable with the interrogation she didn't show it. She did shift in her chair a little, but just to get herself more comfortable.
"The man who helped raise me in Romania gave me the most information, but he wasn't willing to say names. Superstition still runs thickly where I grew up and he didn't wish to call their attention to him. But he was the one who told me they came to America."
