Murphy looked up as the dog came around the corner and the cat adhered itself to her legs.
"Stay," she said in a commanding voice.
The dog stopped, at least temporarily. Though he looked ready to jump on the cat as soon as he felt Murphy wasn't looking.
She sighed.
"C'mon," she said to the cat, taking a step backward and pushing open the door to her apartment building. She wasn't going to leave the poor thing to the dog after all.
