She wasn't attacking, so that was good. Eric had no doubts that he could hold his own, but running headlong into a fight his first night here wasn't exactly what he wanted to be doing.
"Incredibly." The corner of his mouth moved upward. It hadn't been even twenty minutes since he'd literally landed in the middle of this tiny town. He'd yet to even move from the spot he'd landed in.
"I take it that you are not. At least not as new as I am."
Nobody asked a question like that if they'd just shown up themselves. Or if they did, the word too was tacked on the back side of it like an afterthought. As if two new faces in any place could band together automatically and face whatever was to come.
Eric began to move closer to the dark haired vampire. She was shorter than him, but there were few who were not. And she was not abnormally shorter like some. She reminded him very much of the gypsies he'd come across in other lives.
