We walked in silence, and I wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or bad. He didn't say anything, and I didn't want to say anything just in case he needed to think. I knew this was not going to be the easiest conversation for him to have, but I was dying to know what he was thinking about. A number of times I opened my mouth to speak, but quickly shut it. When and if he needed to talk about it, then he'd say something.
So I was relieved when he finally did say something, and I frowned. "Of course I want to come. And please, don't think I'm not aware of what could happen. I'm not gonna let you go in there by yourself to be rip to shreds by a bunch of leeches. Even before all this... I've always had your back." My frown turned into a slight smile, thankful that at least my loyalty to him hadn't changed. It had intensified, sure, but I had always been the type to have my pack members backs.
Out of morbid curiosity, I couldn't help but ask, "What you gonna tell them, anyway?"
