Captain. I rolled my eyes as we set off at a leisurely pace to the Cullen's house. I wasn't really in any huge hurry to get there. It was a rare sunny day here in La Push, and I couldn't help but feel like it was some kind of sigh or something that, difficult as it was, this was the right thing to do.
The silence we walked in was a little oppressive, but I didn't have a clue what to say. What do you say to a woman whom you are suddenly in love with on your way to inform the woman you used to be in love with that you are not in love with her anymore and don't want to risk you neck for her demon-child? Also, when the hell did my life get so freaking complicated?
SO we kept silent, listening to the noises of the forest as we drew closer to the Cullen's huge house, nestled in the middle of the woods, well clear of Quileute land.
Her hand was warm in mind, and small enough that mine completely covered hers, but her grip was strong. Everything about her was strong.
I stopped, several hundred feet from the house, trying to build up my courage. "Dammit," I muttered. I really didn't want to do this but it had to be done. I turned to Leah. "You sure you want to come with me? If they react badly, things could get....ugly."
