Who: Ezra Greenberg & Jaina Solo
When: Jan 1st, someetimeee in the afternoon?
Where: Jaina’s training gym.
What: A whole lotta UST and a little RST and dorks being dorks.
Rating: PG.
It took at least two hours for Jaina to be covered in a sheen film of sweat, but she was still a long way off from being short of breath. Looking over, she gave Ezra a cocky grin and paused, almost as if she was giving him an opening. With a slight lift of her head, she jumped back, using the Force (so it was slightly against the rules they’d set out for this, oops) to backflip just out of his reach. They’d been doing this on a regular basis for a while now, and Ezra certainly didn’t start out any slouch but Jaina was proud to note that he was even better under her tutelage. Still not as good as her - but not everyone could be the Sword of the Jedi. “Tired yet, Greenberg?” She didn’t normally call him by his last name, but somehow, it just fit the teasing tone she was conveying. She circled around, and even presented her back to him to give him an opening, teasing smile stuck firmly in place. Ezra spent a lot of their training time on his back – literally, rather than in the sense of innuendo. He didn’t mind, though. In spite of the many changes his personality had endured over the last two years, he remained as easygoing about competition as ever. He was solidly outmatched, well-aware of it, and perfectly accepting of it. But he was getting better, at least! “You sneaky cheat,” he said through laughter at her backflip. Ezra was a pretty great marksman, but his hand-to-hand left much to be desired. It wasn’t purely a lack of skill, though that certainly came into play. More than actual ability, his life experience had dictated his lack of proficiency. Once they’d realized in Atlanta that there was a chance that the virus could be cured, Ezra had found it so difficult to kill the walkers. He’d refrain from shooting him, they’d close in on him, and he’d stay his hand for extra moments with a mantra of they could be saved, they could be saved running through his head until he had no choice but to defend himself. It was a terrible habit for an apocalypse, which he’d been reminded of more than once along the way, but it was a lingering one. The number of scars on his skin proved as much. “I was born tired,” he responded with a playfully determined tone, a cheerful grin on his face. He rolled his eyes, shaking his head a little at the opening, but tried taking advantage of it anyway, launching forward at her. “That’s not something to boast about, Ezra.” Jaina reminded playfully, after dodging (but only just, he was getting quicker) his lunge. Swinging back around him, she pushed lightly at his back, a laugh taking her from surprise but she went with it anyway. Humor was nothing new to her, given her entire life was one big ball of sarcastic humor (thanks dad) and good company helped immensely. Ezra definitely fit into the good company category. “Attacking from behind, now? Have some honor!” She only gave him a moment to recover before jumping at him - this time leaving it wide open for him to grab and pin her if he wanted. She knew firsthand that someone didn’t learn if they lost constantly, and sometimes it was fun to let someone else have the upperhand. For a short time. Jaina still liked winning, even in the end. “I do what I want. If you declare something proudly enough, it becomes a point of pride. You can quote me on that,” Ezra responded, his eyebrows lifting. He was pleased by how close he came to actually making contact with her, stumbling with her push and a laugh escaping him as well as he caught himself and turned back to face her and recover. “Taking my opportunities where I can get them,” he said, taking advantage of her leap at him to grab, spin, and pin her to the ground. “Take notes, Solo. That’s how you pin someone,” he said with teasing arrogance, fully aware of the fact that he’d only managed to pin her because she was letting him. He was woefully below her skill level, and very much aware of that, but he didn’t mind. Jaina landed with a grunt, the wind kicked out of her for a brief moment even though she’d prepared her body for the landing. “You were doing so well, there. Dolling out meaningful advice and even managing to be a little cocky.” Jaina leaned back against the cold floor, content to her level of submissiveness for all of five seconds, settling under him while she regained her composure. “But a word of advice - don’t leap unless you’re prepared to follow through.” With that cryptic sentence, Jaina smiled softly before she became a blur of movement. Her body’s momentum pushed her up and over, flipping Ezra to his back and settling her on top. She sat down on him, triumphant smile on her face. “Take notes, Greenberg, better learn how to keep someone on their back if you want them there in the first place.” Once they’d landed, he’d adjusted so that he wasn’t so heavily on top of her. This, of course, would come back to haunt him, but he really didn’t anticipate to have the upper hand all that long anyway. “I learned from the best how to give meaningful and cocky advice,” he responded, grinning down at her. His eyebrows lifted at Jaina’s cryptic sentence, but he didn’t actually have time to react beyond that before he suddenly found himself on the floor beneath her. A sound of surprise escaped him, briefly, and then he laughed. “Let’s be honest, I was destined to be here from the beginning anyway,” he said, amused. Jaina grinned down at him, settling in just enough that he could unseat her if he wanted. It was half a test, not to see if he could but if he’d be daring enough. She put a good amount of weight on his hips, hands holding firm near his stomach, half as if she was ready to jump away and half not arguing that this wasn’t the most uncomfortable of spots to be. “Under me? Yeah, I agree. But don’t worry, you can just dispense some meaningful and cocky advice that you learned from Peter.” Raising her head, Jaina stretched her voice to something higher and more snobbish. “If you raise your leg any higher, I’ll rip it off. And don’t touch my chocolate.” It really wasn’t at all uncomfortable, and Ezra was content to lay and catch his breath for a minute or two. He pulled an arm around behind his head, observing her with amusement from where she sat above him, his other hand coming to rest on his stomach as well. “I meant on my back, but yes. Under you is also applicable,” he responded. At her impression of Peter, his eyebrows lifted and he laughed. “That’s not half bad,” he said. He donned his own version then. “You’ve got to be more articulate, though. Peter hits all of his consonants with extra sass.” Jaina raised an eyebrow worthy of any Solo, looking down at Ezra when he relaxed. She was half convinced he was trying to throw her off and get her to relax the rest of the way, which kept her hand steady, stretched across his abs. “Belong on your back, huh? At least you know it.” Laughing, Jaina shook her head at his own portrayal of Peter. “That was scarily on point, I guess I should’ve expected it.” One shoulder lifted in a shrug. “I just don’t do pretentious very well. I think that comes from my dad.” Ezra grinned up at her, watching her observe him with that sassy eyebrow. She was definitely her father’s child, he knew. He could see it in the way she carried herself – it was very Han Solo. (And very attractive.) “I am aware of myself,” he responded, adjusting a little beneath her. “Two years of isolated contact makes for very inventive pastimes. You should see my Melissa impression,” he responded, laughing. “Pretentious doesn’t suit your face as well as cocky and sassy does, it’s true.” “Your Melissa impression might terrify me. She terrifies me, and I’m a Jedi.” Even with the confession - one she was completely serious about - Jaina kept her head high. So yeah, she was definitely scared of Melissa, mostly because Melissa reminded her of her own mother - the one back home - and women like that were the kind of women that were meant to be terrifying. The kind of woman Jaina would never be and she was okay with that. Sword of the Jedi was enough of a legacy for her to live by. She shouldn’t have let her thoughts run away from her, because the next thing Jaina knew, she was staring off into space. Snapping back into the moment, Jaina narrowed her eyes down at him. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s nothing cocky or sassy about me. Confident. I am, after all, the one pinning you.” “It’s a pretty good one,” he responded, and grinned at the confession, his brow furrowing a bit at it. “Really? I can see it, I guess. She’s definitely a powerful person. I think I know her too well to actually be scared of her, though. I didn’t figure you’d be scared of much at all, actually.” And that much was certainly true. Jaina hadn’t ever given off the vibe that she had any fears. Ezra totally could’ve taken advantage of that moment and pinned her back, but he was feeling too lazy at the moment so he figured he’d bide his time and take advantage of the next opportunity. “You are the most sassy, are you kidding?” he said, laughing. “And you’re only pinning me because I’m letting you.” The last part was a lie, and they both knew it, but he grinned and shrugged a shoulder anyway. “Something tells me she could scare you if she tried,” Jaina replied, grinning. Eyebrows up, she took note of the fact that he seemed to just make himself comfortable, rather than actually try to beat her. He’d had an opportunity to pin her fair and square - though her brain likely would’ve caught up in time - and didn’t take it, which was a very Ezra thing to do. Slightly more unusual for her, given Jaina was used to opponents, even if they were family or friend, who took every advantage they were given in order to win. “I think you forgot we’re supposed to be sparring, that’s what I think.” She shifted slightly and moved her arms to cross over her chest. “Enjoying being put on your back, then?” “If she tried, absolutely. Or if she was actually mad about something. She does make me nervous sometimes, but that’s usually when she and Peter are up to something,” Ezra responded, shrugging. To be honest, it was partially so that Ezra could catch his breath, this laying back and relaxing. He still wasn’t quite used to this kind of exertion so early. He could run for miles back in Atlanta, but that was with the force of adrenaline coursing through him because of the flesh-eating monsters everywhere. This was definitely different. “Oh, are we? I’d forgotten how we got like this,” he responded, lifting his eyebrows, a smirk on his face. “It’s comfortable down here.” He shrugged a shoulder. And then, without much warning, he took advantage of the fact that she’d pulled her hands from his abdomen and used his body weight to roll them over and change the position so that he was looking down at her again. “See? Super comfortable.” The noise Jaina made when flipped was somewhere between a surprised squeak and a grunt, neither of which she would own up to if called out. Squeaking wasn’t dignified. She was trapped slightly, having had her arms crossed over her chest, and Jaina wedged an arm out. But with the awkward position, she really had no… place to put them. Well, not without making him uncomfortable. But making him uncomfortable had it’s merits. Like putting her back at the advantage. “Comfortable, you say?” Jaina stretched luxuriously, arching her body slightly. It had been a long time since she used her Trickster practices, but they had a tendency to come in handy when she least expected it. “I can see how you’d think so, yeah.” Ezra beamed at the sound she made, because it was a triumph in itself. It meant, as far as he was concerned, that he’d actually pulled something off without her completely giving it to him, and that was a success. The position itself was certainly awkward, as far as positions went. After all, she’d had her legs on either side of him before, and flipping her over hadn’t really changed that much. When she stretched and arched her body the way she did, her intended effect definitely had an impact. Ezra’s eyebrows lifted just a little and his eyes widened as well. “I see what you’re trying to do. Not going to work, bud.” “Hm? I haven’t made a move.” Jaina even attempted a sly smile, calling upon every graceful (there weren’t many) bone in her body, and each lesson that her mom tried teaching her that she skipped out on or ignored entirely. With a stranger, this wouldn’t even have been possible, she would have hit something or awkwardly swung her elbow the wrong way-- either way, Jaina would have ruined it within the first five seconds. Thirty seconds in and she was beating a new record. A record of what? She didn’t know. All she knew is that he was lying through his teeth that it wasn’t going to work, and that had more to do with his mannerisms than it did feeling through the Force. “I mean, if you wanted me to make a move…” Jaina lifted one leg and wrapped it around his calf, look getting more sly by the minute. Okay, this was definitely a side to her he’d not seen before and it was absolutely impacting Ezra a whole hell of a lot more than he was trying to let on. All of the slyness and that luxurious stretch, all coupled with their positioning itself, and it was definitely taking some stubborn will-power to keep up his guard. Not that letting it down seemed like such a bad thing. He hummed before he could stop himself at movement of her leg, and then narrowed his eyes playfully at her in the aftermath of her little triumph there. “You are a devious little cheat,” he said. That was it. That was all Jaina could handle before busting out laughing. This time, her back arching was unintentional and her leg tightening around his calf was due to the full-bodied laughter. It was ruined pretty effectively when she pulled her other arm free and ended up doing just what she had been patting herself on the back for not doing -- smacking him right in the face when her arm lurched free too quickly. It wasn’t a hard smack, but still enough that Jaina immediately stilled her laughter. “Kriff. Sorry-- here I was being proud of myself for lasting that long.” She looked appropriately ashamed for all of three seconds before the laughter - she refused to call it giggling even though it was approaching that level - kicked back in. Her laughter brought a grin to his face, and he laughed along with her, if more at her reaction than anything, until he received a sudden smack to the face that made him pause and collect himself. He was laughing again before she could even apologize, wiggling his nose a little in response to the hit. “You dork,” he said, shaking his head as he watched her fall into fits beneath him. This was such a more fitting sight, this almost giggling. The slyness before had been certainly something, and something he wouldn’t have minded seeing again in the future, but he really enjoyed these moments even more. “Remember to breathe, Giggles.” The new nickname sobered her up, her laughter dissolving slowly, eyes narrowing. “Hey, that-- It was a very robust laughter. I do not giggle.” If she could’ve had her back up with indignancy, she would have. But she was still “trapped” under him, and practically wrapped around him at this point. It wasn’t a detail she had ignored, but more and more it was starting to affect her in the same way it had him. For posterity’s sake, she took a deep breath and let her head fall back against the floor. “Happy now?” She looked up at him with a smile just touching her lips, more relaxed than she’d been this entire training session. So relaxed that she didn’t stop herself from brushing away a curled lock of hair that had fallen to his forehead. “I’m pretty sure right now you should either roll off of me or kiss me.” - as soon as the words were out of her mouth, Jaina’s cheeks flushed slightly. “It was absolutely a giggle, I’m sorry to say. Don’t worry, though. I won’t tell a soul,” he said, grinning. The relaxation was no better in terms of making him acutely aware of how tangled up they were, but he couldn’t entirely complain if he were being honest. “Quite. I knew I had a relaxing presence,” he responded, still smiling down at her. The brushing of his hair away didn’t really catch him by surprise, though perhaps it should’ve, and he really didn’t respond much to it except to smile a little softer. At the words, he blinked, because they certainly did catch him off-guard. But she’d said them, and they were both where they were, tangled up together, and the options seemed to make sense. So instead of responding with something that would’ve ruined it, as he was so prone to doing, he leaned forward to kiss her instead. “Keep calling it giggling and I’ll-” Embarrassment forgotten, Jaina’s words were cut off with his kiss. She’d put it out there, not really to try and goad him on but because it felt like they’d been dancing around this for a long time. Not as long as Jaina had done in the past, mind you, she was notorious about picking guys that took their time. It was a stark contrast to her own rush-head-on outlook in life. That rush-head-on outlook is probably what had her hand tangled into his hair pretty quickly, and Jaina was completely breathless (a feat for her) by the time she reluctantly pulled away. “Why is it you can take direction here but not when I’m telling you to watch the opening on your left side?” Ezra hadn’t been listening to what she’d been saying anyway, her invitation to kiss her too much of a pull to focus on words. Ezra wasn’t the type to take his time purely for the sake of taking his time. He was a careful person when it came to his relationships with other people. He’d been that way before Atlanta, and was even more so now. He struggled with interacting with other people now, and with knowing what he wanted. It seemed like he took one step forward and two steps back usually, and that became really frustrating in time. But she’d given him an opening and he’d taken it without giving himself a chance to think too much about it. It was easy for him to fall into the kiss once her hands tangled in his hair, matching her breathlessness when they separated. “No competitive nature,” he said, grinning again. “But an excellent kisser.” She found herself laughing again, but this time Jaina did it right before throwing her lower body weight into flipping them again. This time when she settled in on him, it was less the idea of keeping herself balanced and slightly more intimately pressed in. Not bothering with the earlier bubble of space, Jaina leaned down to kiss him again, but this time keeping it slightly more brief. Slightly, but not much much. She wasn’t as out of breath when she pulled away the second time, but it was enough of a tug that she sat up without too much of a drag away. “Excellent kisser,” she agreed, nodding once. “Good enough that we should get up now or we probably won’t.” Ezra didn’t struggle against the flip this time around, though he really hadn’t struggled the first time either. His hands settled on her waist this time around when she pressed against him, keeping her where she lay and returning the slightly (slightly) briefer kiss as it was given. When she pulled away again, he was still smiling, his hands moving to her hips. “Why, thank you,” he responded, nodding as well. “That’s a good point. Up, up,” he said, tapping his fingers where they rested against her. “Or I’ll try to lift us both and probably embarrass myself. And I’m doing too damn well right now to embarrass myself.” “I smacked you in the face five minutes ago, I don’t think you could beat that on the embarrassment scale if you tried.” But even with her objection, Jaina lifted herself off of him, even resisting the urge to do a backflip or levitate or something show-offy. It was tempting even still, given that she now couldn’t seem to get a stupid grin off her face. She held her hand out to help him up, and with the force of a thousand suns wiped the damn smile off of her face. “Alright, Greenberg.” Snapping her voice into something a little more business, Jaina reached her free hand out and a fighting staff flew from across the room to it. “More work, less play.” “It’s alright, though. I heal, after all,” he teased, grinning still. He watched her lift away, actually rather surprised she didn’t do so in a show-offy sort of way, given the way she’d shown off earlier. Mostly, he watched that bright grin of hers, his own goofy smile matching it because how could it not. He took her hand and used it to get up. He forced a mock-serious expression on his own face, then. “Bring it, Solo. I’m going to kick your ass this time,” he said, even though they both knew he still stood no better chance of that than he had before. |
