In the recent weeks, Lyle had ended up sleeping over at Stiley’s place in the most extremely platonic possible way more than once. He was getting used to it, but considering half the night was her waking up from nightmares or more recently, hallucinations, neither of them had gotten much sleep and not in a fun way. The doors seemingly being shut on two of the people around him seemed to level things out, and more than a few of the group were just exhausted after the full day. Lyle had taken Scott up on his offer for a hotel room, stopped at a local drugstore on his way there and spent more time than he cared to admit under the hot shower, washing away the day. And any dried blood. A lack of clothing options had him just running around in boxer briefs when Stiley held true to her word and showed up at his hotel door, but there was no embarrassment on his part. Even if he hadn’t been exhausted, Lyle had never been a prude or afraid of walking around half naked. He hadn’t lasted long before ending up flat on his stomach on the king sized bed, face buried in a pillow. It was another ten hours before he resurfaced, but he wasn’t expecting to wake up with his body practically wrapped around Stiley’s smaller form from behind. Even as he knew he should roll over and pretend to keep sleeping, he couldn’t help drop his head down to bury into her hair, inhaling slowly. The plan had been to come over and get a little peace and quiet, recharge, then head back to Scott, but weeks without a full night’s sleep caught up to Stiley by the time she was knocking on Lyle’s door. She’d even been too tired to work up a mental meltdown about his state of undress. Though she did store that mental image away with the rest. She was mentally and physically wiped, not a different person altogether. Exhaustion eventually won out over any plan to make her way back to Scott and she crashed out in an sprawled out side position next to the half-naked teenager already in the bed. Stiley wasn’t entirely sure what pulled her out of a really good dream, but she was sure that waking up in a cocoon of werewolf warmth was easily going up on her favorite things ever list. Of course, that thought led to the immediate and brutal awareness of his nearness. She was pretty sure she couldn’t pretend to be still asleep, even if her eyes had never opened. Damn supernatural senses could probably pick up on her change in breathing, especially when her breath caught in her throat. But she was also pretty sure she didn’t want to move. And it had been a rough couple of weeks. Wincing at the fact that her brain was a traitor and so-not-helpful, Stiley mentally sighed and let herself snuggle in a little closer against him. Whatever, dammit. She could enjoy this for a second and then get up and go back to the real world. True to what Stiley figured, Lyle picked up the moment she woke up. Not just her change in breathing, which gave him pause, but her heartbeat picking up had filled his eardrums before he gained a little focus. Selfishly, he had no interest in pulling away, even if he knew he should and knew that if she didn’t, she’d regret it later. He’d already told her about not wanting a relationship, and even if he wasn’t being overly honest with himself on that regard, he missed having a warm body to wake up to. Not to mention the obvious that he was an eighteen year old guy waking up with his body nestled up to a female form, when he hadn’t had any action in months. That part seemed especially important when his mouth dropped down to lightly touch his lips to Stiley’s neck, his arm tightening a little around her middle. Not a mistake from his perspective, but something he’d probably pay for later if Scottie got wind of it and he got a lecture about leading Stiley on. And Scottie wouldn’t be wrong, but a high sex drive and lack of better judgement currently ruled over everything else. Any doubt about whether him smelling her hair had been imagined or part of a dream went out the window when Stiley felt his lips on her skin. There were other signs that he was very much awake and a fleeting thought that now would be a good time to move, get up, get out. Instead, she smoothed a hand lazily down his arm and entangled her legs with his. Unlike Lyle, she’d never had this. A few dates, some kissing here and there, but not the kind of intimacy that came built into waking up with someone who was hardly wearing any clothes. It didn’t matter that the only thing she’d taken off was a hoodie and her socks and shoes. In her head, she might as well have been naked. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that extreme, but Stiley was still instantly a little drunk on the feeling and even less inclined to move than she had been when she woke up. A few seconds ticked by and her mindless caresses stopped as she turned halfway towards him. Her large brown eyes were probably a little too wide before they narrowed in on his mouth, but she was proud of the fact that she sounded calm when she murmured a quiet “Good morning…” Lyle’s experience with this sort of thing was only with two werewolves that knew exactly what they wanted and went for it. It wasn’t something that ever bothered him - sometimes it was a turn on and sometimes all it did was frustrate him. In this case, it didn’t help him knowing that he actually had to make decisions. Which he was historically either great at doing or bad at. The ball was still up in the air as his mouth drifted along Stiley’s neck lightly. She hadn’t flipped out or jumping out of bed and yelling about dating, which he took as a good sign. That wasn’t the sign he needed, even if it was what he wanted. Pretty clearly, as was evident when his hand drifted down to her hip and he was gentlemanly enough to not push his hips against her. More. She seemed to have a lot more control over her voice than Lyle did, his own throat having gone dry. “Hey,” his voice was low and gravelly, and he found himself propped above her on his arm, thinking it was way too early in the morning for words. Lyle cupped a hand over her jaw, ran his thumb across her cheek and didn’t even second guess diving down for a kiss like the sex-starved teenage boy he was. There wasn’t anything cool or calm about her reaction. One second, Stiley was mentally telling her stomach to stop flipping out over the sound of one stupid word, a small smile twisting her mouth, and the next, she was snaking her arm around his neck and kissing him back just as eagerly. And for once, her brain shut the hell up. Probably because it short-circuited around the time she twisted her lower half to line up with his and hooked a leg over his hip. She did have enough brain power to note the differences between this kiss and the two that they’d shared previously, however. This wasn’t a ‘stop panicking’ supportive friend kiss, and it wasn’t a slightly perfunctory, definitely tipsy New Year’s Eve kiss. Maybe the difference was her and how the previous night had left her feeling confident and useful. Being surrounded by werewolves was hard on a girl’s self-esteem, even if she was generally pretty good at faking it and there’d been plenty of successes on her end. Either way, it was different, for her, and she tried not to let her hopes flare that it was for him too. Instead, she laced her fingers through his hair and pressed in tightly against him, determined to make up for her inexperience with enthusiasm at the very least. It was different. Not just the kiss, but the situation, the culmination of feelings he’d been repressing for months. If the panic attack kiss had been a light coming on, this was his eyes finally adjusting to the sudden brightness blinding him. Even people like Scottie and Alex hitting him with hard things over the head hadn’t got him to wake up, as stubborn and determined as his mind had been to pretend like they weren’t compatible. At some point between figuring she was going to knee him and actually diving in for the kiss, Lyle’s brain shut off. With a groan into Stiley’s mouth, he kicked away the sheets that had been covering them and pressed her further into the mattress. He had a few different areas he wanted to explore, but for now he remained focused on her mouth while his hands slid down the length of her body and to grasp her hips, pulling her a little closer before fingers inched their way up under the edge of her t-shirt in a well-practiced move. The groan served as a lightning rod, apparently, because not only did it send a shock through her, but it also came with the painful realization that she was screwed. With one hand in his hair and the other blindly encouraging wherever his hand wanted to roam, Stiley finally grasped what the difference was. It wasn’t any stupid confidence. It was the lack of immature infatuation. The feelings she had now weren’t wrapped up in some idealistic child’s dream. They were based on real moments - good and not so great - and everything about him that he didn’t let most of the world see. Hell, they were even based on what he did let the world see, because even when he was an ass, at least he was honest and didn’t talk to her like she didn’t have enough spine to handle whatever he dished out. Realizing she was in serious trouble resulted in Stiley dragging her mouth away from his, even though it didn’t go very far. “Sooo...I’ve been thinking that maybe I’m not so old-fashioned. I mean, what is this? The 1950s?” Each sentence was punctuated with either a few seconds of her mouth on his, or her mouth on his neck, or her hands doing their own roaming across all his bared skin. “Definitely not the 1950s. And god, what is the hang-up anyway? Guys get grief the longer they stay virgins but girls are raised with this stigma that we hold something precious and if we don’t guard it like our lives depend on it, we should be ashamed.” She was fully aware she was rambling and probably ruining the moment in the process - jesus, Stilinski, did you have to bring up your virginity right NOW - but the flood of words would not be halted by self-deprecating thoughts. “I mean shouldn’t it just be about trust and knowing what you want - god you smell good. Oh my god, please ignore everything I just said. Except maybe the last part. Shutting up, shutting up.” Lyle’s brain was registering Stiley’s rambling without paying (much) attention to her words. He was just letting her talk while he pulled away from her mouth and let his lips trail down her neck and over the top of her t-shirt on her chest. HIs hands were already roaming up to her stomach and above, under the shirt and running along her skin. He was definitely getting carried away, though his mouth quirked into a little smile at just how much she was talking about double-standards. Any other moment and he would’ve agreed, being all for women empowerment and them doing what they wanted just the same as men. But this moment, instead, he was more focused on diving back in for another kiss to actually shut her up. Pulling away, he locked his hands around her hips and flipped them over with swift ease, thanks to his heightened werewolf-y strength and agility. “You’re ridiculous.” Settling back against the pillow, he used one hand cup the back of her head and bring her down for another kiss. He softened the statement with another groan and whispered against her mouth, “And so damn hot.” He could’ve said a lot more, but it was when her words finally registered through the haze of lust that was clouding his mind up. Stiley. Bed. Virginity. Not that he hadn’t already known - everyone in Beacon Hills probably knew she was. It wasn’t something that made a difference to him until right at this moment, when they were rushing along following an intense day. Lyle hadn’t intended on spending the night or a weekend in Hawaii, and hadn’t even packed anything. His stop at the drugstore wasn’t all encompassing and even more than that, he was unprepared for this level with her. Hell, he’d even say she deserved better if he knew full well that it was her decision. His body froze up under her as soon as the thoughts hit him like a shovel over the back of the head, and his hand tightened on her hip. “Wait. I don’t- We aren’t-” Deep breath, Lyle wasn’t one to get stumped up on words easily. His head fell back against the pillow, eyes closing. “I wasn’t expecting this to happen and I don’t exactly carry condoms around in my wallet, Stiley.” Between the flip, his hands, and the compliment, Stiley was definitely done talking. She wasn’t sure she could have said anything coherent even if she tried. Unfortunately, the moment when everything came to a screeching halt was jarring and unmistakable. Of course, her pulse was still pounding and she was straddling him, so sitting up as the words he was saying sank in didn’t exactly mean her head cleared immediately. She even glanced over her shoulder at the only items she’d brought that weren’t on her person - a red hoodie, a pair of converse and socks - like maybe, just maybe she’d inexplicably brought along protection. She really was ridiculous. “Iiii…” Her brow furrowed and she dragged her bottom lip through her teeth. “Right. Right. Of course not.” Reality was unfortunately cold and a little freaking cruel. Fighting to get her breathing under control, Stiley closed her eyes and moved off of him, collapsing onto her back next to him. “Why didn’t I--I should have thought of that instead of just--” Whatever words that followed where a garbled mess as she rubbed her hands down her face in frustration. Anxiety was setting in quickly - what the hell was she doing? Screwed was one thing. Screwed without enough hesitation to even consider the fact that she was unprepared was something else. “Thank you. For...yeah, okay. I should probably go,” she squeaked somewhat intelligibly from behind her hands. It was coincidence that Lyle was mimicking her actions, his hands rubbing along his face, resisting the temptation to slap himself a few times. The claws were away, which was a bonus and probably entirely because it was Stiley and not someone random. She grounded him more than others. Well, that was a moment ruined in the blink of an eye. Lyle lifted his head up slightly to take a quick glance down the length of his body and then fell back again, growling under his breath. He let himself take a second just to look over at her, and want mingled with regret and a little bit of sadness had him looking back up at the ceiling, hopefully before she noticed. “You don’t- I’m going to-” With a wild gesture to the other side of the room, Lyle was stumbling over his words enough that he was close to cursing. This wasn’t normal for him. He was a smooth talker. Knew what he wanted. And it was pretty obvious he wanted this, but no protection, not exactly a thought out plan and the obvious knowledge that he was setting himself up to either get his throat ripped out by Scottie or that he’d end up breaking Stiley’s heart - that was enough to have him out of the bed with wolf-like swiftness. “I’ll just be-” Poking a finger toward the bathroom, he only wished he could just dissolve through the wall instantly. Officially mortified and very, completely, sure that looking at him right then would be the opposite of helping the situation, Stiley nodded a bit frantically with her hands still over her face. The fact that he was flustered too did ease her back from the faint beginnings of a panic attack, though. She was fairly sure that if he’d been Mr. Cool, Calm and Collected, she would have been crushed. “Okay,” Stiley managed to respond in a voice she hoped wasn’t strangled. She hadn’t seen his gesture, but she’d gotten the gist when he moved off the bed. “I’ll just...stay here.” Thank you for sharing, Cpt. Obvious. Grimacing behind her makeshift shield, Stiley started counting off the seconds while her body cooled and her stomach stopped turning in knots. Hopefully, she’d be up and out before he reemerged from the bathroom for Hopelessly Awkward: Round Two. |
