WHO Allison Argent and Isaac Lahey
WHERE NYC
WHEN Friday, November 15
WHAT Finally, a date.
RATING A for Awkward
It had been alarmingly optimistic of Isaac to expect that he would be less awkward in person than he was in writing. The truth was that the only thing more jarring than being pulled across time and space through a magic portal in the middle of the ocean and finding out that he was fictional and that there were multiple versions of him... was seeing Allison Argent again. He was an adult man in his thirties, for god’s sake. Still introverted and reserved, perhaps, but he’d once had a bit of prowess at talking to women, right? He was totally and completely out of his element, though, and damn her for being even more gorgeous than he’d ever expected her to be. She was so... ugh. She was perfect.
He’d built himself up, having gone out and found some nice clothes to wear (as Boyd was a fair bit more built than he was), and he’d gone to pick her up with a smile and confidence. And then he’d seen her, and all of that had completely escaped him. The pictures were overwhelming, but seeing her in person left him speechless. And reverted him once more to the painfully awkward man he’d been for the last few days.
The restaurant was a bit nicer than casual, but certainly not too fancy. It was a good spot, he thought. He hoped, anyway. They’d gotten in and had been led to their table and had largely spent the first half hour in the most adorably awkward way possible. Mostly, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. He really tried not to stare, but that task proved utterly impossible. He was here, on a date with Allison at last, and he couldn’t believe it.
