Just walking in the door the smell of the place made Aesir feel like he was home. It had been entirely too long. Apparently he had gotten soft in his old age. Just being away for a short while made him ache to be home and back with Aidan. There were times .. no, he wasn’t going to let his mind go there. Why bring in something negative when he was so happy to be home. Now, the second most important part, finding Aidan.
As always, the first place Aesir headed was the music room. If Aidan wasn’t there then he probably wasn’t home at all, or he would have met Aesir at the door. Leaving his bag by the door, Aesir climbed the stairs and in only a few feet he heard the music, a smile spreading across his face. Could this moment be any better? No, probably not. Quietly opening the door he stepped in but stayed near the door, trying to be as silent as possible while Aidan finished what he was playing. It would be a very rare occasion for Aesir to interrupt him while he was playing. For now, he would just enjoy the view and the music and wait patiently.
—
Aidan was playing on the piano. His guitar was resting nearby, clearly played but now was resting. Aidan had been working through a song when he was hit with inspiration that called the piano. It was not a surprise at all; the piano was his first love. It was his first everything, really. This song was fast and quick and his fingers flew over the keys, filling the air with notes.
There. There was his second love. Aidan smiled but did not turn to look at Aesir, not yet. Not until the song was done. It was hard, to not look, not pay attention. He missed Aesir. Really, the man needed to stay home more but Aidan would not say anything. Aesir had to work and Aidan toured a lot now. It was fine.
Now the song was over and Aidan turned to face Aesir, a playful smile on his lips, “You coming to say hello?”
—
When Aidan finished and turned, Aesir grinned and made his way over to where he was sitting. “You could say that.” Stepping up to Aidan, he cupped his cheeks, tilting his head up so he could lean down for a very gentle kiss. “To say hello and tell you I’m home.” He whispered then pulled back just enough so he could see all of Aidan’s face. “I’ve missed you. And the moment I walked in the door I told myself no more travel for business. Which we both know won’t happen but, at least for a while.” He let out a soft chuckle. “Part of me was hoping you would be up here. I always love hearing you play, especially when you’re not intentionally putting on a show.” He gave Aidan a wink then. They both knew even now Aidan wouldn't have known the moment Aesir was in the room.
—
Aidan returned the kiss. He smiled as Aesir looked down at him. He got up, taking Aesir’s hands and leading him to the couch. Aesir to sit first so then he could sit on his lap. He missed Aesir. He smiled.
“No more travel for business?” Aidan repeated, “I know it’s in you. You can’t sit still. Just like I can’t.” He always made a promise to go with Aesir next time but things kept coming up. Yet they were always together in the end and that was what was important. He kissed Aesir again.
“Hmm, and here I thought you came here so we could make our own music now.”
—
Aesir followed Aidan’s directions happily, wrapping his arms around Aidan’s waist once he settled into his lap. This was what he had missed the most. Having Aidan close and being able to hold him. Leaning in, he pressed a kiss to his neck before pulling back so he could see Aidan’s face.
Laughing softly he nodded. “Exactly. Neither one of us will ever be the type to just stay home. Besides, the best part about leaving is coming home.” He grinned and returned the kiss, his hands sliding up and down Aidan’s arms as he savored the feel of him.
With a soft chuckle, Aesir grinned. “And who says I didn’t?” He practically purred then nipped at Aidan’s bottom lip.
—
Aidan laughed and smacked Aesir lightly, “That was incredibly cheesy. I should walk away.” He wouldn’t, even if Aesir was made of cheese. He kissed Aesir deeper, enjoying the feel of Aesir’s hands on his arms, being close to the other man.
“For one, you are still dressed, as am I,” Aidan said, “I think that may need to change.”
—
“Yes it was, but you won’t go anywhere.” Aesir grinned then returned the kiss, sinking into it as he pulled Aidan closer against him. He could so easily get lost in Aidan, every part of him. But he wanted to get his hands and mouth on more of Aidan so he pulled back from the kiss.
“Ah, yes. We must remedy this.” Reaching down, he tugged Aidan’s shirt up and off, tossing it aside before running his hands down over his chest and stomach. “I need to feel all of you.”
—
“Hmm, that sounds like a challenge. Do you really want to risk that?” Aidan teased. He kissed Aesir deeper. No, Aesir was right. Aidan really didn’t want to go anywhere but that wasn’t the point, was it? Even if he let Aesir tug off his shirt. He reached for the hem of Aesir’s shirt.
“Was the trip successful?” Aidan asked, reaching to pull Aesir’s shirt off. Come now. He wasn’t going to be the only one getting undressed here.
---
“Somehow I think I can handle distracting you enough so that you won’t actually have any reason to try it.” Aesir teased back. He sunk into the kiss, moaning softly into Aidan’s mouth, his hands roaming to touch as much of him as he could in their current position. Once Aidan’s shirt was off he helped get his own off. Skin on skin was always better.
“It was quite successful. I might even take some time off because of it.” He smirked then ran his hands down Aidan’s bare chest, teasing fingers over his nipples before sliding down to undo his pants.
—
“Time off?” Aidan pulled back with a mock gasp, “I can hardly believe it. Whatever will you do with yourself?” He half closed his eyes as Aesir teased with his fingers. Hmm. He definitely missed being with Aesir. He missed him.
“I do hope your answer is going to be taking me somewhere and spoil me rotten,” Aidan said, leaning in and kissing him, “You owe me.”
—
“It’s funny that you would say that.” Aesir smirked, nipping at Aidan’s lower lip after returning the kiss. “I was planning to do exactly that. Take you to the island where I have you all to myself and I can spoil you rotten, which will in turn spoil me as well. It’s a complete win-win and anything else can wait until we get back.”
Leaning down he kissed down Aidan’s neck, nipping gently at the skin while his hands slid around to grip Aidan’s ass, squeezing as he pulled him in tighter. “Hopefully you have a clear schedule.” He teased.
—
“You just want to see if I can get a tan or if I’ll just sunburn outside,” Aidan teased back. An island sounded wonderful. Time with Aesir sounded wonderful as well. Though, it would be different this time, wouldn’t it?
“Hmm,” Aidan mused as Aesir pulled him closer. He closed his eyes, feeling the chill of Aesir’s skin against his own warmth. The difference was weird, “And if I don’t? Then what?”
—
“I was wondering how it would feel to hold you after you’ve been out in the sun.” Aesir admitted with an easy smile. The smile slid off after a moment and he pulled back just enough to look at Aidan's face. “Why would it be different?” He asked softly.
Pressing a kiss to each of Aidan’s eyelids, Aesir chuckled softly. “Then I either figure out how to clear your schedule or we work around it.”
—
“I’ll be warm and toasty,” Aidan said. The question made Aidan glance away. Why? He was different. Physically different. A difference that he did not want anymore. Sure, the magic was stronger. He was stronger in that regard but he didn’t like the difference between him and Aesir anymore.
He smiled and shook his head, dismissing the question. They didn’t need to get into that now, “Hmm, it’s much more fun to watch you clear my schedule.”
---
“You will be, and it will be delicious.” Leaning in, Aesir kissed Aidan’s neck, nuzzling gently. He knew what he was thinking, even if he hadn’t been able to actually hear the thoughts. “We could change that, Aidan.” He whispered against Aidan’s skin before pulling back.
Aidan’s commnet made him laugh and that part felt good. “You would enjoy that, wouldn't you?” He smirked. “You’re horrible in the best way possible.” He nipped at Aidan’s lower lip.
—
“Paperwork,” Aidan pointed out, “Permissions. Who is going to let you turn me back? Who is going to explain that I was made human again without going through medical tests? Becoming their test pig?” Aidan sighed softly. He supposed they could just do it; it wasn’t like anyone knew he wasn’t a vampire anymore. What laws were they breaking?
Aidan snickered back and kissed Aesir, cupping his face, “Only for you.”
---
Aesir raised an eyebrow at that. “I didn’t think we needed to tell anyone, except those closest to you, obviously. No paperwork. No explanations.” He shrugged slightly. “Just us. But I’m also not going to push you. You know it’s not going to be easy and the same struggles you had last time will likely manifest again.” He ran his hands up and down Aidan’s arms. He knew that was rough but when Aidan was ready they’d face it together.
“As it should be.” Aesir murmured against Aidan’s lips, wrapping his arms around his waist to pull him in closer.
—
Aidan fell silent. Then why not? Why not now? Why hesitate? Because he would lose a part of himself that he kept so dear to him for years. Who was he without his magic? Who was he without his fangs? He wasn’t sure anymore.
He opted not to say anything, simply drawing Aesir into a deep kiss. He would rather focus on something he had power over, which would be the lovely sounds Aesir would make.
