We’ll be late for our dinner? Did that mean he figured that she would say yes anyway? Or had he made reservations just in hopes that she would? It wasn’t like she was going to say no, Ashleigh wouldn’t turn Wes down; even if her life depended on it.
A fresh wave of blush darkened her cheeks. He would wait lifetimes for her.. It sounded like it was out of a book, but it didn’t sound fake or forced, not coming from him. She wondered briefly if all vampires sounded like that at times. Was it just part of the package, like it was something that came with the territory? She wasn’t sure. Having met only one vampire, she didn’t have much to work off of.
Ashleigh bit her lower lip, debating on whether or not to ask him to come up. She knew he wouldn’t look down on her for the way her apartment looked, how small or messy it was. Would it imply that she didn’t trust him the way that he had trusted her.
“You, um… can come up if you want,” She gestured towards her building, feeling a bit more antsy than she would have liked. It wasn’t the fact that asking him up was unnatural, or weird in any sense. She just didn’t do this often. She wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do. Was it out of etiquette to invite a gentleman caller up to her apartment? Would Wes think it was unbecoming? The amount of questions sent her mind reeling. “I don’t mind. I won’t be long.”
She shook her head slightly and offered the vampire a smile, it was slightly awkward but still full of hope. Her mind ran over what she could put on so she might actually look like she belonged on a date with the man, instead of looking like some sort of ragamuffin. She didn’t have much in the way of nice outfits, so it wasn’t a long list of things she would be able to wear.
