Nate smiled, grinning like a boy who'd just been told he was getting a new bike for Christmas. And just as impatient as one, too. Hell, he wanted to gather her up and kiss her right there, but he didn't think that'd suit Naiya. She deserved more, dinner and dates and the correct, proper order of things just as his Gran had always drilled into his head. Even if he wasn't particularly fond of his ingrained gentlemanly qualities, he had to concede her this point, as he wanted to treat Naiya to nothing but the best. And a kiss, he knew, was a dangerous thing. People got carried away, one thing led to the next... and somehow he didn't think sitting on the wet grass with a dog slobbering all over her was the right setting for a first kiss. It lacked, well, every romantic notion he could thing of. Spontaneity was all well and good but it didn't have the finesse of candles and twilight and nice words. Hell, they'd both been up most of the night and were more than a bit punchy, worn and a tiny bit haggard. It was a bit like being drunk, the way his mind was wandering off like a mischievous scamp. He thought maybe one espresso hadn't been enough, once he realized he'd made a side trip into his own head again, all the while staring at Naiya. Warring with himself over whether to kiss her or not. Finally, he stuttered through a sentence. "Sounds great. I can't wait."
