Jess chuckled quietly, "Glad to hear it." Careful not to make his staring blatantly obvious, he watched Ashleigh curiously. She was awkward and shy--skittish, was the word. Like she was ready to bolt if some folk shouted 'boo!' at her. He couldn't quite tell whether he made her feel that way or if it was a normal state of things for her.
Glancing at the books again, the vampire said, "Which part is the hobby?" She looked a little confused so, smiling some, he clarified, "The vampires or the reading?" He hated to stereotype since appearances had the habit of being deceiving but she looked the bookish type. 'Course appearances had a habit of being right too. He had run with a vampire--a scrawny fella that wore glasses--who had read his way through the 17th century.
