Kira had been beginning to get the impression that Justin didn't want her company. He was shy, that she understood, but he also seemed a little...standoffish. Like he wanted to be left alone or, at least, be away from her. But now he sound almost disappointed she wouldn't be joining him. It was a bit of a surprise and she was glad she had been mistaken. She laughed, her cheeks coloring with the faintest blush, "Well, I can't say no to 'all but begging'." She held back a smile as she playfully teased. "It'd be mean. So I guess that means I'll have to stick around."
They came to a stop outside Last Chance Records. With its brick walls and plain sign and poster and flyer decorated windows the store front didn't look promising. It looked more like a struggling, hole-in-the-wall shop than a hip but little known record store. Nonetheless, Kira announced with a cheerful grin, "Here we are." She opened the door.
The inside of the store was a different story. It was familiar, it felt loved as if it were a home; a child's clubhouse where you needed to know the special password in order to be admitted entrance. The registers as well as what passed for a makeshift customer service desk sat in the center of the store. In front of it, displayed upon shelves, were collectable records. To the left and the right side of the store CDs were shelved on rows of waist-height bays. Further back, listening booths were lined up against the far wall. An iron spiral staircase led up to a second floor with big, comfy chairs and shelves containing a variety of music and instrumental books. Posters and bits of memorabilia lovingly decorated the whole of the room.
A man stood in front of the desk, idly flipping through a magazine. Tall and thin as a blade, he was all sharp angles as he leaned against the desktop. He looked over at them, flashing a toothy grin as his messy mop of dark hair fell across his eyes, "Hey, Kira."
Kira returned the smile, "Heya, Danny." She shifted the weight of her bag and moved to the records, flipping through the various titles displayed.
"How's it going?" Danny nodded toward Justin, "Who's the rube?"
"Oh, same old, same old," she said to the store owner. "And he's a friend." She glanced over her shoulder and smiled at Justin. "He's cool."
Danny chuckled quietly, "Alright then." He nodded to Justin. "Hey, man."
