A 'maybe' was better than a 'no' so Kira smiled, deciding to remain positive about it, "Fair enough." She reached into her bag, looking for a scrap of paper and a pen. As she searched, she continued to talk, "It'll be at my apartment." She pulled out a square of paper and a pen and scribbled down her cellphone number. "My friends are from my theater group," which was nothing more than a few people getting together for improv. "I promise they're really nice." Some, she knew, found 'theater' people to be too much. Then again, some people even found her to be too much; loud, almost terminally cheerful, bouncy, and completely, unapologetically herself.
Kira handed Justin her number and then dropped the pen back into her bag. "Let me know if you're free," she said with a smile. Then, abruptly changing the subject so as not to seem pushy, she said, "The record store is just up the street." She shifted the weight of her bag. "Danny is always looking for extra help. Maybe you could get a job there."
