"Well, lucky for you there won't be any rethinking or wallowing or, worse yet," Kira put a hand over her mouth in a pretend horrified gasp, "losing me as your friend." She smiled after it was said, clearly only joking. From wealth she may be but arrogant and vain she was not. Her parents had managed to instill at least some degree of humbleness into her wild spirit. "Lucky for me too, come to think of it. Imagine all that time I would have wasted."
Nearing the next station, the train jerked as it slowed. It soon came to a complete stop and the doors slid open.
"This is us," Kira announced. "Follow me." Not wanting to get separated in the rush, she grabbed hold of Justin's hand and led him off the train. Weaving through the crowd, they walked through the station and up the staircase. "It's a few blocks away," she said, letting go of his hand as they stepped onto the sidewalk. "Not far at all."
