Kira laughed softly at the almost chagrined smile Justin offered as he admitted to his obsession. She was only just beginning to realize just how shy he was, how he worried of being judge for something other than who he was. What had happened to him to make him so unsure of himself? And so wary of others?
The laugh became a smile and she shrugged, "There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs a healthy obsession and why not music?" Her fingers ran over the tops of the CDs as she moved further down the line. "Music speaks to everyone." Were not song and dance some of the oldest forms of expression? Couldn't everyone find some enjoyment in them? "With or without words it can convey so many emotions." She hummed a few bars of a song and her soft voice carried prettily in the small building. "It's a language all of its own and it can be found everywhere." She smiled almost to herself and quietly said, "Music is the harmonic connection between all things."
Cheeks flushing, Kira quickly hopped to a new subject, "Hey, Danny, aren't you looking to hire someone?"
Without looking up from his magazine, Danny nodded vaguely and replied, "Yeah. That Beth girl didn't work out. She was too fond of the five finger discount."
"What a crazy random happenstance," she said with a bright smile. "Justin's looking for a job."
Danny's gaze finally rose up off of the printed page and settled on both of them. He arched a nonchalant eyebrow, "Is he?"
Kira merely smiled in response.
Turning to face them fully, Danny folded his arms across his chest. "Tell you what," he said, breaking the silence. "I could give you an application and then I could waste my time calling all your references. Or." He let the word dangle in the air. "Or I could take Kira's word and hire you on the spot." He turned away and went back to reading his magazine. "You start tomorrow. 9 am."
