As long as The Doctor had a problem to solve, her face didn't have a permanently guilty expression. She gave Steve's hand a gentle squeeze before letting it go.
"Unless...."
The Doctor stood up and ran into the TARDIS to retrieve something. She came out moments later with a device that looked like a mix between her screwdriver and a taser.
"I think I can fix this. The vaccine for the Chitauri illness! I'll infect you via electric shock! Either you'll have a mild fever with a bit of floating, and nothing happens...
"Or you'll have the worst fever in your life with more pronounced levitation side effects but the illness will bond to whatever the Master put in your system and the vaccination will fight off both! Or...!
"The illness will bond with whatever The Master put in your system and the super soldier serum, and you'll have the worst fever you've ever had in your life with major levitation side effects and we'll be right back where we started!"
She smiled broadly. Obviously option two was the more desirable outcome, but none of them would be fatal. The Doctor spied Bucky's metallic arm.
"First things, first. You'll require the vaccination as well. Also, Steve, if Ersikine's formula does reassert itself there is another slight chance of a secondary growth spurt of a few more inches... Half a foot at most so there could be a bit of residual soreness."
After a shot for Bucky and a taser applied shock for Steve (which was barely more painful than a standard static electric discharge) the Doctor readied blankets, water and even soup in little thermoses. As far as places to be sick went, Space Florida offered the nicest view.
