River flipped a switch, to cloak the ship. A moment later, the ship landed, silently. River pretended to be buffing his nails. "Pleasure watching you work, sweetie," he said, voice dry.
They all stormed out of the TARDIS together. As soon as the doors swung shut, there was the sound of boots on the ground, orders being shouted, and guns pointed at them from all directions. Bucky tensed, ready to fight, and Steve grabbed his flesh arm. "No!" he said. "No. Not here. Not now."
River had also gone for his blaster, but had stopped short at Steve's shout. Scowling, he raised his hands instead, signalling surrender. "Americans," he said with a sigh. "Always willing to shoot first, shoot second, shoot a third time, and then ask questions when people stop moving."
He smirked. "I'd almost like you if you weren't so American."
"Hey!" protested Steve and Bucky at the same time.
