The Doctor ignored the question, too. She didn't want to answer it in front of River. She didn't know precisely how to answer it. The Doctor preferred to talk constantly but say little. Answering that question made it hard to do either. Instead she reached for Steve's hand and gave it a squeeze before letting it go.
"Yes, I would agree," Thor stated. He was either oblivious to the tension between River and the others or he was tactfully choosing to ignore it. Past experience indicated it was probably the former. "You should try real spirits, my friend. Not like the water you drink on Midgard."
Thor clapped Steve's shoulder a little rougher than necessary but the grin on his face suggested a sort of challenge.
The Doctor looked occupied and took another non-picture with her outdated camera equipment, mumbling to herself: "Perception filters all over the place. That's probably important. Could even follow up on that. But I've never been to an Asgardian party. I hope I remembered the bananas."
She even attempted to smile innocently at the others.
The taverns on Midgard were loud. It was hard to hear the Doctor talk and she hated the taste of alcohol. Sometimes, when she thought River wasn't paying attention, she stared at him, still sulking.
