Something was very wrong. She understood now that nothing like what she'd expected was happening right now. But none of that mattered, because the sudden hitch in Morpheus' voice had caught her up completely. She stepped forward and set her fingertips gently against the side of his hand. It wasn't intrusive or demanding - just a touch, just that slight connection to remind him in a tangible way that he could reach out for her if he wanted to.
"What happened?" she asked, her dark eyes deepening further. "What is it that I don't understand?"
She left his question alone for now. It seemed a selfish thing to try to answer it right this moment. There were bigger issues to touch on.
