Rose loved to stay on escalators for as long as possible. She was even guilty of having stepped backwards on them to keep the stairs from moving her to the top (or bottom). She'd spent 7 minutes and 42 seconds on one, once, before a guard asked her to step down. Tonight, she took them two at a time. The energy signature was building, and that could mean only one thing. It was getting worse.
Shoes everywhere. The sale said 75% off, and what was that, an after-Christmas special or something? She picked up a clog and turned it over in her hand. Myers, it said, stamped into the sole. She whipped out the Sonic and scanned it. Yup. Tossed it aside, grabbed a pump, scanned -- yup. A sandal. Myers. Yup. A ski boot. Myers. Yup.
Rose left the castaway pile and looked instead at the feet of the people in the store. Many of them looked to be wearing the same sort of shoes. Back for more, were they? Well, they would be, wouldn't they, with a sub-sonic suggestion field prodding them along. But why? And who was this Myers anyhow?
It'd hardly matter if she didn't stop the primary broadcast. It seemed to be coming from... Her eyes lit on an 'Employees Only' sign. Right! A few seconds later, she closed the door behind her and turned around. Storage room. But storing what?
"Oh," she said to the man at the top of the stairs. "Hello." Bright smile! Nothing the matter here!
