Something was off. The dalek remained stationary and said nothing else.
"Leto? What was that noise?" That was Oswin's voice. She'd been in living room and entered the kitchen with a smile until she noticed the monster in the kitchen.
"STIR," said the dalek.
"Leto!" Oswin cried and jumped between the alien creature and Leto. Her timing was perfect. The dalek blasted in their direction from the gun mount. When it hit Oswin, her body lit up and her skeleton for a few moments was visible under her flesh as she crumpled to the floor dead.
Oswin Oswald woke up with a start in her bed on the massive starliner known as the Alaska. There were passengers headed from Earth to -- that part didn't matter. The part that mattered was that she was getting to see the stars. Dragging herself out of bed she showered, got dressed in the red crew uniform of her red dress and matching sneakers, dried her hair and then approved of her reflection in the mirror.
"Oswin! You've been hogging the mirror all morning! You entertain the children, no one cares what you look like!"
"Have you seen the gorgeous young man in first class? Bluest eyes I've ever seen! Bet he's an alien." Oswin shared a room with two other crew members and watched them argue in the mirror.
"You have, haven't you!"
Oswin smirked, "I may have noticed."
"I heard he's on the run."
"I heard he's some kind of royalty."
"If you'll excuse me, ladies, I have a dance to set up in Ballroom A." Oswin had heard the rumors, too. She hadn't paid them any mind. She did, however, walk through the common areas in First Class as often as she could for a chance to get a glimpse at the attractive younger man.
Funny enough, the path she chose to take to work that morning just happened to go through First Class.
