We've put the setting in modern day San Francisco, CA. It's a huge peninsula surrounded by all types of water. There's the San Francisco Bay, the San Rafael Bay, the Gulf of Farallones Marine Sanctuary with islands littered around it. Lash Lighter Basin, India Basin, South Basin, Crissy Field Marsh, Gashouse Cove, and South Bay are another few types of waterways surrounding the city.
Seal Rocks, Alcatraz, and Yerba Buena Island are some of the main attractions. To the north of the city beyond the Golden Gate Bridge is a huge park called Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Don't believe me? Check Google Maps, just type in San Francisco, CA.
