“Somewhere nice,” he supplied coolly, giving the answer as if it really were an answer. It had been her idea that he plan it, so she couldn’t mind too much that he was keeping the details from her. It was more trust than she would have given most people. He knew that, and he wouldn’tbe taking advantage of it, but some surprises were nice. Even if he would have, Cedric wouldn’t let him do anything that would hurt her, with the exception of leaving if he chose to one day. There was no hint of that happening anytime soon. He happily curled his fingers together with hers and met her casual response with one in kind.
He might have worried more if he knew how instinctively she would guard them, perhaps even from him, but he knew as well that she didn’t want to do any of this alone. He had always been a part of that future and for now, even forever didn’t seem to be enough for her.
“I think as long as we can set things back the way they were, it will be fine. There aren’t fish in all of them.” All they had to do was get Shay to want it, and Mikino would be powerless to say no, even if he did grimace at the cheap tactic. “So here’s the deal, Mel. I’ll wait as long as you want for you to marry me, but we need to take engagement pictures while I’m still young and pretty.”
She had been obsessing over picture ideas lately, so he was giving her an outlet for that which involved him. An olive branch in regards to the whole ordeal. It was overdue that he let some of it be fun for them both.
“Or with her, honestly.” He could sympathize. Mel wasn’t nearly the same as Bianca, as far as the social structure among the Sidhe, but she was still more than they figured a human deserved. “The Danaan aren’t interested in humans, but there’s plenty of room for accidents to happen right now that the Danaan could be blamed for. You hear about it happening. Mikino's had a few cases brought in."
Something Andrew hadn't thought to mention before now, apparently.
