The truth was that Andrew would have been content to set the date five years from now (though he did hope that by then they would be trying to have children, which could complicate everything further). He just wanted a day to plan for and to count down to. Her concerns were all valid enough. Going North was dangerous, and her theme didn’t really fit in well here.
“I think it would be an insult to Mikino to have it in another territory. I don’t think he’d say anything about it, I guess, but still… This isn’t the last December we’ll ever have. We can plan this thing next year, or any year for that matter. We just need to plan it. Do you like having our anniversary so close to Christmas? That means social obligations mashing up into a sort of holiday that’s just ours.” He liked the idea of keeping to their original dates, but Christmas did make it a complication in his eyes. “Not that I suppose Christmas will be such a big thing now that we’re living over here.”
He sank back in his chair, giving it a moment or two more of consideration. “Would you really want it in February?” It would be the one year anniversary of another major event in her life. He wasn’t sure if having a wedding then would overshadow that horror, or If it would work the other way around. “Back home, February is usually way worse than December, actually. Weather-wise. Cold and snow. That’s when you get all the blizzards."
