Court formalities were lost on Kayden. Every time he came back, he was forced to relearn them but since, at least at the current, he had no desire to stick around longer than he was truly needed, he waved them away and acted as himself, warped from lesser civilizations and centuries among them. There was a bit of an arrogance in disobeying such formalities. Nearing seven hundred, give or take half a century, he was stubborn and stuck in his ways. He preferred casualness over all the flounce of the court. It was too reminiscent of all the courts he'd been involved in outside of their world, during his time in Europe. All pomp and circumstance that he had no real desire to be a part of. Some people were born to do great things and be in particular positions, Mikino and his cousin were two of them. Kayden was content to let his elder brother continue to rule as heir of their small house and he let those who were into all the fancies enjoy their bound existence. The short amount of time he'd been in the palace that day alone almost made him feel like a caged Aetheryn, though he too showed no discomfort or any sign of anything but boredom in the way he carried and presented himself.
"I haven't spoke with anyone about my arrival. I stopped in to see my brother, but didn't mention why. They never ask anymore. My coming and going is of little interest to them. Which is just as well. I hate too many personal questions," Kayden remarked, looking over at the other in an attempt to catch his eye. He knew that it was Mikino's job to probe and find out information. It was all in protection of his cousin and he was thankful for it, when it came down to it. Azzy needed people around her who wouldn't let things happen and regardless of who he was, had he not been questioned, Kayden probably would've have put up some sort of complaint about the lack of security. He was have tempted to play coy, to continue to half answer Mikino's questions and evade seriously answering, but he had to remember that he couldn't play his fellow far the same way he did other species. There was a difference between being rude for fun and being down right disrespectful and he didn't want to be the latter, not entirely. He felt he was already stretching the line thin with his informal tongue and clothes.
He adjusted the glasses again, then turned his attention back to the artwork while he spoke. "I received a letter from her brother saying that my talents in clairvoyance were needed to help protect The Chaldean. I knew that if I, of all people, had been sent for, there was a real problem since I've been of little use to the court in decades. I didn't bother to stop in to see him, because I'm worried about her. Rather than jump through other loopholes, I thought it was best just to come here myself and ask for her. I thought the worst, but if you say it's possible to see her, then at least she's still alive."
