“You’ve managed more than I’d have bet anyone could before. Groundbreaking’s kind of our thing, isn’t it?” He never missed a beat. He didn’t share in her preference for seafood, generally speaking, which meant eating out was a good time for her to choose it. It was one of the few things he didn’t like to cook. He even took a chance himself, with lobster ravioli in a vodka cream sauce. As long as it didn’t still look like a lobster, he would give it a chance.
He laughed as he reflexively glanced to the wall she indicated. “Would I have brought my fiancée along if it did? I don’t think hearing it’s good is a spoiler.”
His menu was folded and set neatly aside before he approached the topic of Amelia. They had time now, which was really all that held him back before. “Amelia’s the head of our new Regional Director’s personal security and some of those duties spill into making sure we’re all doing our jobs right. We don’t see much of her, but she kind of unofficially outranks everyone, you know? I imagine I’d see a lot more of her if I was still an Agent, but… I don’t plan to go back to that. I don’t really know a lot about her, honestly.”
