"You wouldn't be wrong," she responded wryly. Nye was just as stubborn when he took it upon himself to be so. She had never liked using her authority over him to make him heed, but it had been known to happen from time to time. Usually when it regarded his own safety. He had a bad habit of running into danger head first without hardly a plan. Or at least, she thought it was hardly a plan. Nye always seemed to think it was an excellent plan; attack first, ask question later sort of plan. "He will, at least, listen to what I have to say before he decided whether or not to ignore it."
She was quite used to being an oddity among her gender. It was the reason she held few female acquaintances. Even the vast majority of her guards were men. It was not out of a particular dislike, but simply because she found it hard to relate to other woman. She had always been allowed more freedom than most and it showed. She had little interest in many of the "feminine" skills. This was not to say she hadn't been taught all the finer points, but she used them sparingly and only when the situation dictated it. She would not have been surprised if he had thought it strange. Still, underneath all her quirks and oddities, she was female at heart. From time to time, there was always a rare, unguarded moment.
Power. That seemed to be a theme of sorts surrounding the Palace as of late, particularly where the Queen was concerned. Even with an awareness of the coming shift in power, it still felt strange not to think of Sidonie as Queen. It did not speak of a preference, as Ava had made her opinion on that front particularly clear, but rather a certain sense of familiarity, just as she found it difficult not to think of the Chaldean as simply that. It would come in time, she supposed, when titles shifted and habits formed.
"Solitude is best suited for places one is comfortable," she commented softly, falling into step with him once again. "It seems a lovely enough place for such a thing." Ava was different in that regard, Tadriel had it's own gardens as did most major houses, but those time she had sought to be alone it was not the gardens that drew her. She preferred the forest that surrounded the property. There was much more life to be mindful of than within a simple garden.
After a moment, she redirected her eyes to him, "Are you disappointed?" she asked, offering him an easy smile, "Or is the sense of discovery enough?"
