Even with her own experiences concerning duty, a part of her recoiled at the idea of being married off. She considered herself lucky that such a thing had not been something she faced. Even if she had, she supposed, there was a good possibility that she would have been married off to Nye, or Mikino had he shown interest prior to any arrangements made with the Calmcacil household. She was relieved to have been able to make the decision in her own time. Still, his comment on doubt made her laugh. "A father's right, some might say, be it hypocrisy or not." She imagined he'd have his hands full once Shayleiah was old enough for suitors.
"More than you'd like to remember I'm sure," she smiled, glancing back down toward the two she had been watching. He had always been sure to capture her attention whenever they had been in close proximity. He made it impossible to ignore his charm, even for her. "Be thankful Shayleiah will not have such charm following after her, less you loose that fondness all the faster."
Meeting those familiar eyes, not for the first time did she wonder what it was he saw, "What if it surpasses it?" she countered, raising an eyebrow. "The question is whether or not you are satisfied with not knowing for certain. You can speculate as long as you'd like, but you'll never truly have your answer unless you're willing to find it." The unknown was a haunting thing if allowed to take hold and Ava had never been one to allow for that, whether it be what lay behind a closed door or not.
She shook her head when trouble was mentioned. It was not an uncommon thing to relate to her, she could admit, and it brought an amused smile to her lips. "Curiosity does not always lead to trouble. You can expect me only to urge you toward discovery. Should trouble find us along the way, it was merely an unforseen circumstance."
