Pleasantries being next to nothing from Mr. Moreau, Abel abstained from further comment and merely propped an elbow on the arm of his chair then perched his chin against slightly curled fingers. He was withholding a sigh as Roxy's tirade started to wind up. Honestly, he supposed it could have gone worse as his gaze dropped down and to the side as he followed the line of Roxy's legs upward before his peripheral vision failed him. She wasn't lunging across the table. Abel sincerely doubted his legs being in the way of hers would deter her from it if it was something she truly wanted.
His other hand gently slapped against the edge of the table, a light physical response to her mentioning anything about an oath. Abel's fingers spread out slowly with a heavy sigh. He said it more for those listening in than anyone in general. It was to protect Roxy and himself. "She knows that I have sworn to protect this new coven that has taken over this city in my family's failure to maintain a code of sorts, that my grandmother's betrayal ruined my name, and that is why I am no longer a coven leader. As merely one of many Wardens for the new coven presiding as the main representative of the Western coastal covens. Roxy does not care to know anymore, she does not know anymore. All I wish is to be certain there will not come a day you two chance across one another and her volatile temper results in some aggressive display against you. She is well aware what would happen, however I do not want something to happen to you, Mr. Moreau, in the future where Roxy is not in the area. I would not have her suddenly become suspect because of what was done in the past."
Abel returned her look with a dry one of his own before setting the green hazel back on the Hunter across the table from them.
