Reihana and Mikino Late afternoon An unofficial chat in the palace
She had made no big secret of meeting with Avalynn Dubhghail. To the remainder of the world there was nothing amiss about such a talk. The Chaldean met with the Great House leaders as she saw fit. She certainly sat down to talk with Mikino often enough. To Mikino, however, this particular meeting was of particular interest. He had told Aneirin the two women would be dangerous together and he had not entirely been joking about that, but he was not concerned about the interaction in that sense. He knew--or at least, thought he knew--what Reihana was up to. He could scarcely blame her. He had done the same with Sidonie's suitors. This is where the present branched off from the history of such things. Mikino took an interest in the Chaldean's estimation of his potential match.
They were both busier than usual of late, but the damn palace was a maze of cavernous hallways, so when chance threw them together in one and they would merely have crossed paths, he redirected himself to fall into step at her side. He was more resplendent than usual today, which no doubt meant there were to be hearings open to the public. He had never been one to devalue the importance of appearances. After the attack it had been suitable to look worn and suffer with the people themselves, but at some point he must become a symbol of strength and the perfection to which the Sidhe devoted themselves. If he could have spread those wondrous wings, the picture might have been complete. As it was, they were tucked up close, but they did nothing to detract from handsome features or the clean lines of his attire.
"Lady Chaldean. How was your conference this morning?"
