It was the brother in Aneirin that frowned at her words, not entirely fond of being her say she was doing this for the betterment of all rather than because of a selfish need on her part. Selfish in that she loved Mikino Alcaeyn. However, he was logical as well, knowing romantic love wasn't for everyone. And it was not like Ava was going off to marry a stranger. Lord Judgment may be many things, but Aneirin, even in grief over losing so much right then, could see that the elder Sidhe would take care of her. And at least she would not be required to become pregnant, for then Nye would have been fearful. After all, his own birth had been the death of his mother.
The wishes of the old Lord Dubhghail had not been lost on Aneirin, for they had been the same kind of hopeful wishes his own father had held in the beginning. Neirin had spoken fondly of how nice it would be to have Avalynn a daughter through marriage on more than one occasion when Nye and him would sit at night watching a very young Ianto play with his toys. But as time passed, Neirin admitted that he would not see marriage ruin the closeness his son and the Dubhghail Lady held. The memories brought a fond smile to his lips. "Our fathers had a lot of hopes in common, didn't they?" he chuckled lightly.
He reached out and placed a hand on one of hers, giving it a light squeeze. It had been a while since he had last felt carefree enough to give Avalynn the light kind of hugs between friends and siblings. Not since Lord Dubhghail had died, and Ava had ascended to the Head of the West. And now it just seemed to have become more comfortable to give the smaller signs of affection. Time and distance in rank, and now with her position as an engaged woman to a powerful Lord paired with Nye not being her actual brother just seemed to compound that.
"It means a lot that you wish me to take this on and think me capable to take it on. I will do my best to take care of our home." Then he gave her his own mischievous grin. "Though I cannot promise to not construct little moments to get you returning home for a visit. We can't allow the South to steal you away completely."
