Reihana had once told him that no one could be at the Queen’s side all the time. She had done her part that day, and she had saved dozens of lives in the time before succumbing to her own injuries. He had seen that the emphasis in the retelling was put on that bravery rather than on one chance slip. If Sidonie had perished, it may have been different, but as it stood, it was a lucky thing that she had been in that Courtroom, or Sidonie would have found herself without a Regent.
He stood his ground while she sank back into those cushions, listening to the words carefully. It seemed she was going to ask somewhat more of him, and he feared she may be right and he may not have it to give this time.
