"I…" he still didn't really know what to say. On top of the shock from being attacked, his was going through a reality-altering moment here, and his mind was trying to put it all into terms that he could cope with.
He was up now, against the wall, still using it for support, surprised by how strong he could feel the texture of the brick.
"…don't know," he finally finished after what seemed like an eternity. His eyes slipped back to J-S. "You're a…vampire…"
As Chad pushed off against the wall, he staggered a little and his eyes dropped to the hand being offered. He didn't immediately take it, clearly torn about what to do.
Then the sirens became noticeably louder and Chad seemed to snap out of his stupor. J-S had never fed off him, or tried, but…that only seemed to deepen the betrayal. How had he hidden it so well when they had spent so much time together?
Still, Chad put his hand in J-S's, because they needed to go and he was too hurt to run off on his own.
