As J-S felt the pulse slow beneath his lips, he was also very aware that Chad was no longer lying next to him. He could still hear the younger man breathing behind him, meaning he hadn't run, but he was watching what J-S was doing, and he likely was scared by what he saw. Biting his tongue to close the wounds on the thug's neck, J-S slowly got to his feet.
"Chad...I didn't want you to find out this way..." J-S said, turning around, fighting to make himself bring his eyes up to Chad's. He looked scared, and J-S wouldn't blame him for a second if he just took off, or if he told him to go to hell and get away from him. "I wouldn't...I would never hurt you, I did this to them because they hurt you, I want to protect you. I care about you so much, I..."
J-S let himself trail off, wanting to go over to him and hug him, apologize for not coming sooner, promise to take him home and clean him up. But he didn't know what Chad wanted of him yet, so he had to be careful. He didn't want to scare him off if there was a slim possibility of a chance that the man didn't hate him already.
"I'm a vampire, yes, if that's what you're thinking," J-S said quietly. "But other that that, everything I've told you was true. I was born in France, I was in the army, I love birds, I work in a blood bank, I like spending time with you...all of that is true. I was afraid to tell you the truth, and...now I have forced it on you, and I am praying with everything in me that you don't leave or tell me to."
