Late Night
Abandoned district of town
It wasn’t often that Antonio ventured out these days. As much as he might find such things distasteful, modern conveniences made it less and less of a necessity. Technology was a wonder and he could acknowledge that, but it got the sort of reverence he felt magic ought to have received and for that he was somewhat bitter toward it. Tonight he found himself in a part of town that was fairly devoid of such things. Perhaps the pipes within the ramshackle houses had once carried in fresh, chlorinated water to happy little families, but that was clearly no longer the case.
He had worn long sleeves to get this far, but they were rolled up now, unveiling those sigils etched into his skin in dark blacks and reds, highlighted here and there by a brighter sliver of color. It announced what he was to those who would recognize the myriad whorls for what they were. As to Antonio, his eyes followed the line of rooftops, meticulously picking out the slithering form of an agile imp as it led him onward to his destination. He paused only as the pickling of runes alerted him to the presence of another. It was odd this had not happened more, but if Agador’s tale of the lycan were true, perhaps it was reason enough for even the drifters to steer clear of this place.
