He had that ease down to an art. The drink in his hand had been put there by his own trusted attendant, a lovely young thing who found employ within the Alcaeyn household the moment she was released from her ARA training. He had done his research in acquiring all those who found themselves within his House. They were well-compensated and always treated with the utmost respect, but he expected the service to be seamless in return. His guards were unobtrusive, overseen by a man by the name of Aredhel, but they were present today. Mikino was not known to dismiss them for the sake of any save the Chaldean and Her Grace. But then, if this had been a matter requiring such privacy (whether it be words or otherwise—those tales varied wildly), Eoin would never have been admitted to begin with.
Those dangerously knowing eyes flitted from the lovely Chaldean to the newcomer’s entrance, but he did not trouble himself to rise. It was his right, of course, but it said something that he exercised it now. He looked quite comfortable in that chair, with the unusual splay of crystalline wings thrown out behind him, which may well have been cause enough to stay put. The movement required to spread those appendages had surely cost him a great deal of pain.
As to the Chaldean, such talk cost him nothing. It had begun as a threat of what he could do to her reputation on a whim, and how difficult he could make her life. It was Sidonie who had brought idle speculation to a new level, and they had both been required to make the best of it. As Reihana greeted the young Lord, his gaze shifted to Anachitis. The staff had caught his eye more and more as of late, and he found himself curious as to the reason behind those frequent changes. He took his time in turning his attention back to the courtier, adopting a languid tone to brush through the formalities.
“Yes, of course… Lord Viorel, an overdue pleasure.” He lifted his glass, motioning from a pretty young attendant to Eoin, but she was a step ahead of him, already offering a delicate glass, properly obeisant.
