Judgement, the Chaldean and Eoin The White Drawing Room, The Palace Early-afternoon Eoin is vetted
Even after a lifetime of dressing to impress, either his mother or his superior officers, Eoin had spent an inordinate amount of time readying himself for the day. It wasn't just any day though, today was the day he was finally going to present himself to Judgement. He hadn't been actively avoiding the man but he hadn't exactly been trying to make the man's acquaintance either. The man was bad news and was only considered such because he had a talent for seeing through those like Eoin, namely liars. Most of what he had heard about the man had been positive, they even shared some political and social views that many, particularly men like that blasted Fredric, found radical. It was even said they shared the same passion for women. If Eoin hadn't been set upon the path of courting the Queen there might have been the possibility of a friendship, after all it was only natural for spring and summer to go together, but there was his frugality with the truth and it set them up as enemies for the time being. Or rather at least until they had both surveyed the situation and had figured out some sort of mutually beneficial relationship.
It was what he had hoped for in any case. Everyone knew of Fredric's little run-ins with Judgement and with Her Majesty's Chaldean, they hadn't ended well by all accounts. He hoped to do better and even capitalize on the other man's poor fortune. Pushing away, if not downright offending, the Queen's intimates had been a foolish move on the other man's part and he knew that if he was to have any measure of continued success at wooing Her Majesty's hand he was going to need their approval if not support to do so. He was more than willing to play at honesty for an afternoon if it meant he might have the Lord Judgement on his side.
Any trace of those nerves that had made him take ages to ready himself was gone by the time he was being shown into the white drawing room where Judgement reportedly was. That easy, unflappable confidence covered him as well as the expensive embroidered clothes he wore, both tailored to suit him and the timeless fashions. He didn't bat an eyelash as he was announced, bowing low, in fact he smiled seeing that Her Majesty's Chaldean was also there. He would have to work a little harder to appease them both, but he was optimistic, now seeing it as a chance to take out two birds with one stone.
