"Rae, yeah... I think we had you last..." He paused as his text alert went off, a cheerful "Hurray!" that a gamer would recognize as the Grunt Birthday Party skull from Halo. He sent a quick reply of Waiting on you now and then looked back up, apologetic. "Sorry. I'm actually good."
A nod indicated the menu. He had been there enough times and he didn't deviate much with his orders. "I'm here for the hot chocolate and that crazy raspberry french toast special you guys have. What's the deal tonight?" A glance around the empty restaurant accompanied the words. "Is there a boycott I ought to know about or something?"
Rae was a pretty girl, and he wasn't supposed to notice that sort of thing anymore, so it was probably a stupid move to be chatting too much with her when he knew Mel was well on her way. But Andrew wasn't the keep-to-himself type when it came to socializing, and it wasn't as if she had anything else to do.
