It was stupid. She had no reason to believe the predator she was supposed to be luring in wasn't female, but for some reason she relaxed a bit for that very reason. It was the sort of stereotype that had been dismissed on an intellectual level, but clung to emotionally. Rae's eyes flickered over Melisande before she responded, which took a moment. An awkward, silent moment, that should have been used to reply.
When she realized she was just staring stupidly at the other woman, she took another half moment to be grateful that her cheeks were already reddened from the cold and her blush couldn't be identified.
"Hi. Sorry..." She gave a little half-wave, before lowering her hand haltingly. This wasn't like her. Rae wasn't the boldest girl in the city by any stretch, but shy wasn't generally her color either. She was a supernatural in a town full of, mostly, humans. It had been a long time since that little-girl feeling of fear had gripped her the way it did tonight.
